Tani Colbert-Sangree is the Technical Lead for Greenhouse Gas Emissions Accounting and Strategic Applications in the Energy Systems and Climate Analysis Group. His research focuses on corporate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions accounting, carbon credits and the assessment of credit quality, environmental attribute credits, and voluntary decarbonization commitments.

Tani joins EPRI from the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute (GHGMI). He has over 13 years of expertise on carbon credits, assessing credit quality, Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, GHG verification, GHG emissions accounting for electric companies, programs to build national GHG inventorying capacity, and institutional structures to implement climate action plans. Tani has developed training to accredit verifiers through the California Air Resources Board’s Compliance Offset Program and the Low Carbon Fuel Standard. He is a member of the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market’s (ICVCM) Expert Panel and was listed on the Paris Agreement Article 6.4 Roster of Experts. He has also contributed to the carbon credit rating initiatives of the Carbon Credit Quality Initiative, Calyx Global, and provided credit ratings assessment through GHGMI. Tani is an experienced educator in both in-person and virtual settings. He instructed 5 online courses while at GHGMI on project-level carbon accounting and led in person and virtual workshops.

Tani holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Oberlin College and a Certificate in GHG Accounting Verification for Inventories and Project from the Greenhouse Gas Management Institute.
