Summary of the EPRI 24/7 Carbon Free Energy Data Repository

This technical brief describes the findings from an EPRI project to expand a data repository related to 24/7 carbon free energy (24/7 CFE) which was originally developed in January 2021. This project was sponsored by EPRI’s Technology Innovation (TI) program and was undertaken by a project team from EPRI’s Energy Systems and Climate Analysis Group between December 2023 and February 2024.

24/7 CFE is the concept of matching hourly carbon-free electricity generation to hourly electricity consumption. The EPRI 24/7 CFE data repository houses documents on the following topics:

  1. Existing and proposed 24/7 CFE utility tariffs in the United States
  2. U.S. federal regulations related to 24/7 CFE
  3. State regulations related to 24/7 CFE
  4. Public utility commission (PUC) filings and decisions related to 24/7 CFE
  5. Announced deals and transactions of 24/7 CFE
  6. International engagement on 24/7 CFE

This paper summarizes the information contained in the repository and some basic content from our review of this information.
