For many utilities, identifying and quantifying opportunities for electrification within their service territory can be a challenging task. Doing so requires a significant amount of knowledge of customers as well as the technologies that they employ. To assist utilities with this task, EPRI has developed a modeling framework to help identify key opportunities for electrification in buildings, industry, and non-road transportation. While this document provides a starting point for identifying opportunities, ongoing work in EPRI’s Electrification program (P199) provides an avenue to extend this and move into program implementation. With proliferation of electrification programs, expected results can be estimated through EM&V and best practices identified. Collaborative research in P199 will allow utilities to share their experiences and grow their internal knowledgebase and expertise.
