EPRI conducted research to understand how energy companies are responding to the increasing stakeholder focus on corporate supply chain sustainability practices and performance, and the evolution of best practices in this area.
Primary research was performed through a survey and interviews with companies that collaborate through the Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance (SSCA), formerly called the Electric Utilities Industry Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance (EUISSCA), and EPRI’s Strategic Sustainability Science Program (P198).
Secondary research consisted of a web-based literature review of relevant published material. This research identified a range of interactions among energy companies’ supply chain and sustainability functions, and highlighted that integrating sustainability into supply chain management is an ongoing maturation process focused on protecting and creating value for companies and their suppliers.
