There are multiple design approaches for deploying hybrid solar photovoltaic and battery energy storage systems. The intended application of the hybrid system may drive decisions on how the system is coupled (on the AC or DC side of the inverter) and the relative sizing of the systems. This report discusses different solar and battery storage system configurations and provides a tool for estimating the associated turn-key installed costs. Installed costs are presented by cost categories which can be modified by user inputs, such as installation year, system parameters, cost projection sensitivity, and coupled system configuration. The results from the tool can serve as an input to planning studies or benefit-cost analyses.
