This document provides methodological guidance for localized climate assessments that are relevant for comprehensively planning for a reliable and resilient grid and changing fleet. Complex topography, such as oceans, mountains, or large urban areas were found to cause larger differences in temperature between surface weather stations (point locations) and gridded data. The season and magnitude of the temperature also had an impact on the differences between the station and grid cell. These findings have important implications on the data source used to define the climate for individual locations and can help determine which locations would benefit most from downscaled climate projections.
