The Energy Modeling Forum (EMF) 32 study compares a wide range of coordinated scenarios to understand implications of U.S. climate policy and technological change on power sector planning. This overview article describes the motivations for the study, compares the 16 participating energy-economic models, introduces the study’s scope and design, and summarizes insights across the articles in the EMF 32 special issue of Energy Economics.
