In July 2018, the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) published a white paper entitled Developing a Framework for Integrated Energy Network Planning (IEN-P): 10 Key Challenges for Future Electric System Resource Planning (EPRI report 3002010821), which identifies 10 complex, large-scale power system planning challenges that electric power system planners and regulators are beginning to confront today, and which are expected to become more pressing and widespread in the future. This technical update and the accompanying Excel spreadsheet database provide an annotated bibliography of EPRI and other research related to the 10 IEN-P resource planning challenges described in the IEN-P white paper. The bibliography contains more than 175 citations and is meant to be an interactive and organic resource that can evolve over time. It is intended to help EPRI member companies and others to begin to take action to address these planning challenges. Also, it is intended to facilitate ongoing discussion about what research already has been conducted in relation to the IEN-P resource planning challenges, and to identify remaining research gaps.
