This study examines how recently-published electric company resource plans address a set of key resource planning “elements” that are important in the development of periodic company resource plans. These elements are likely to be important for future company resource planning efforts to address structural transformations occurring in the electric sector. This study describes the range of current practices used by electric companies to address these key planning elements in their recent resource planning efforts. This study can help electric companies and others improve their resource planning processes, and inform future research related to resource planning.
