Accuracy of distributed energy resource (DER) models in distribution system simulation tools is important to correctly evaluate their grid impacts. To support assessments of DER models embedded in distribution analysis software, a DER model verification framework is developed to evaluate the accuracy of the DER models in their current versions of distribution analysis tools against the requirements and function definitions in the IEEE 1547-2018 standard. The second edition of the DER model verification framework is published in 2022, which is free to download for all stakeholders (3002024404).
This report presents the evaluation summary of the DER model accuracy in the Eaton’s CYME version 9.3.1, which was released in December 2022. In addition, detailed evaluation results and unaltered comments from the software vendor are listed for each individual verification tests. EPRI plans to periodically review the DER model accuracy for common distribution analysis tools in the coming years.
